Wind farms and wind turbines in general, are a contentious topic with many people either unsure or down right opposed to them. But like it or not, renewable energy is a necessity in today’s world and I, personally would take a wind farm over a nuclear power plant any day.
Last year Cork harbour saw the installation of a number of wind turbines as part of a plan by the 4 main multi-nationals located there, to reduce their energy costs and their carbon footprint. At 150m tall they are the tallest wind turbines in Ireland and when you combine their elevated site the make for an impressive sight in the harbour skyline.
Naturally I had to photograph them and I spent a few evenings driving around looking for the best angles and light. I have to say that up close they are mighty impressive and no less so from afar.
